The Grand Palace: A Jewel of Bangkok’s Heritage

The Grand Palace is at the heart of Bangkok in Thailand and it is one of the most beautiful famous landmarks open to a world entirely Thai. The palace, built in 1782 by King Rama I, is still the official residence of the Thai monarch more than a century later. You enter through the main gate to palm lined driveleading you up onto all only 500 metre wide palace platform.
Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), housed one of most revered images in Thailand, is a very beautiful Thai Temple. A large jade statue consecrated the Emerald Buddha is enshrined at this temple. The temple is beautifully decorated with fine murals and golden pagodas reflecting Thai art of workmanship. While the Emerald Buddha changes costumes seasonally, a tradition started by the king himself proving how it symbolizes to Thai culture.
